Visit Preston Manor, a former manor house located in Preston village, now part of the Brighton & Hove area. The magnificent manor belonged to the Stanford family for over 200 years and is currently open to the public to explore. Although the house was built in the late 1700s, parts of its architecture dates even further back to the 1200s. Today, the restored building is a grade II listed building and is furnished with Edwardian furniture and collections from the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries.

Step inside the manor and be transported to the Edwardian era. Explore more than 20 rooms spread across 4 floors including the butler’s pantry in the basement and attic bedrooms on the top floor. Known to be one of the most haunted sites in the UK, learn about the ghosts of Preston Manor as you explore!

Discover seeping lawns and secret doorways as you wander through the walled gardens. Filled with delightful colour and fragrance, take a stroll through the gardens and admire the beautiful lily pond, croquet lawn and gravel paths. The garden is full of surprises, including an unusual pet cemetery. Over the years,16 dogs and 4 cats were buried here of which most belonged to Eleanor MacDonalds who lived at Preston Manor until her death in 1903.
